LINCOLN – The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for McLean County and much of the entire WJBC listening area until 3 p.m.
The weather service reported a line of thunderstorms capable of producing wind gusts as high as 40 to 50 miles per hour has been pushing through Central Illinois this morning, hitting eastern Livingston County and approaching Champaign and Vermilion counties. The Thunderstorm Watch for Livingston and Ford counties is scheduled to expire at 10 a.m.
More intense storms are expected to develop later Monday afternoon into this evening with tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds possible, according to the weather service.
Central Illinois is also under a heat advisory as temperatures are expected to reach the low 90s.
