NORMAL – The Town of Normal is preparing to install a new traffic light at the intersection of Airport Road and Shepard Road.

The Town Council will vote on approving funding for the project on Monday. Deputy City Manager Pamela Reece said with some of the development happening in the area, the traffic has increased.

“We are planning on about $256,000 to be allocated through our motor fuel tax fund for the installation of signals,” she said.

Reece explained the new stop light was budgeted for the current fiscal year. The town plans to begin placing the lights during the spring and hopes to have them operational by the end of July.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
