NORMAL – Several events are scheduled at Illinois State University leading up to World AIDS Day on Thursday, December 1, including the display of panels from the National AIDS Quilt.
Prairie Pride Coalition President Dave Bentlin said selected panels from the quilt will be on display in the Brown Ballroom of the Bone Student Center next week.
“It’ll be five selected panels from the names quilt,” Bentlin said. “These five panels each have between six and nine quilts on them, so there will be some 30 quilts on display at this presentation.”
The quilts memorialize people who lost their battle with AIDS. The quilt panels will be on display from noon until 8 on Monday and 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
The keynote address will be delivered by Chris Wade, the HIV project coordinator at the Illinois Public Health Association, at 7 p.m. Thursday, World AIDS Day, in the Brown Ballroom.
