EUREKA – Eureka College will host the second installment of The 2017 Ronald W. Reagan Society Book Series on March 24 when Fraser Heston, son of Charlton Heston, and author Marc Eliot visit campus to present Charlton Heston: Hollywood’s Last Icon at 7 p.m. inside Becker Auditorium.
Eliot, a New York Times best-selling author of more than a dozen books on popular culture, offers a biography of one of the most fascinating, complex and polarizing legends of cinema’s golden age: Charlton Heston.
Charlton Heston: Hollywood’s Last Icon will be available for purchase at the event. Eliot will deliver remarks prior to a book-signing and reception. Admission is $10.
Heston’s son, Fraser, will also appear at the March 24 event. Fraser Heston played infant Moses in the 1956 film The Ten Commandments.
“Eureka College and the Ronald W. Reagan Society are thrilled to have a great friend of the College, Marc Eliott, return to campus,” said Mike Murtagh, Eureka College Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Reagan Society Spokesperson. “Marc’s best-selling book entitled Reagan the Hollywood Years was one of the most well-received presentations in the Society’s book series.”
Eliot tells the story of Heston’s life and six-decade-long career in full detail. Illustrated with never-before-seen photos from the actor’s family, Eliot’s moving, artful, and honest biography pays tribute to this movie legend, who was president of the Screen Actors Guild just five years after President Reagan held the same role, and reveals not only how Heston’s famous persona came into being, but why.
“I am confident that his latest work, Charlton Heston: Hollywood’s Last Icon, will be another blockbuster,” Murtagh continued.
The Ronald W. Reagan Society Book Series is sponsored by a grant from PNC and by members of the Reagan Society. For more information, contact [email protected] or (309) 467-6319.
