NORMAL – Illinois State football’s defensive coordinator Spence Nowinsky has taken a job with Miami of Ohio, an FBS program.
Nowinsky has coached ISU’s defense the last four seasons and has been on Brock Spack’s staff for nine seasons at ISU. Nowinsky also served as the team’s assistant head coach and mentored the team’s defensive lineman.
Nowinsky guided the Redbirds’ defense to the FCS title game in 2013 with a unit that recorded 44 sacks, the second most in school history – and intercepted 18 passes, the most of the Redbirds since 1989.
