BLOOMINGTON – Families and friends are mourning the loss of three men shot to death Monday on Riley Drive in Bloomington, including a man described as being “so full of life.”
McLean County Coroner Kathy Davis said the victims were all from Bloomington: Nathaniel Pena, 22, Corey Jackson, 22, and Juan Perez-Macedo, 33, who was known as Carlos.
Davis said preliminary autopsy results show the three died from gunshot wounds, but she provided no other details.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Carlos’ family with funeral expenses. He leaves behind a wife and two young daughters. A friend who set up the GoFundMe page said Carlos was a hard-working man who loved his family very much.
Carlos loved to help others, his friend said, and in the end that’s what took his life because he was trying to help when he heard the gunshots.
Police are withholding information about what happened at the apartment building at 311 Riley Dr. They have not made any arrests, and they’re asking for the public’s help to solve the crime.
Relatives of a four-year old boy, who was also wounded, say the child is in stable condition at a Peoria hospital.
