BLOOMINGTON – A Central Illinois lawmaker does not agree with President Donald Trump’s tweet describing the impeachment inquiry process as a “lynching.”
U.S. Rep. Darin LaHood (R-Dunlap) told WJBC’s Scott Miller he doesn’t agree with the language used in the president’s tweet.

“It’s not language I would use and it isn’t the appropriate term to use,” LaHood told Miller.
While LaHood does not agree with Trump’s tweet, he does back the president. LaHood said Trump has constantly been hounded by Democrats in Congress trying to undo the results of the 2016 election.
Other Illinois lawmakers addressed the president’s comments.
We can all disagree on the process, and argue merits. But never should we use terms like “lynching” here. The painful scourge in our history has no comparison to politics, and @realDonaldTrump should retract this immediately. May God help us to return to a better way. https://t.co/URKNgxUfiv

This is Trump’s first use of the term “lynching” to describe the impeachment inquiry. CNN reports that Trump previously retweeted a statement during the 2016 election referring to his media treatment as a “disgusting lynching.”
