MAHOMET – Authorities are investigating after a needle was found in Halloween candy at a school in Champaign County.

Mahomet-Seymour CUSD #3 said Monday morning at Lincoln Trail Elementary, located at 102 East State State, a student found a needle in a “fun size” piece of candy.

The candy was brought to school from the student’s home, and was obtained through trick-or-treating activities over the past few days, according to a post on the district’s Facebook page.

At this time, the Mahomet Police Department and school district do not believe that there is any on-going threat related to this incident.

The district said updates will be provided when more information is available.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
