Vehicle fire closes lane on Interstate 74

CARLOCK – Part of Interstate 74 near Carlock was closed due to a vehicle fire on Thursday.

According to information from the Illinois State Police, troopers responded to the vehicle fire in the westbound lane of I-74 near mile marker 120 at approximately 1:35 p.m.

A vehicle was being towed when it caught fire. The vehicle was disconnected from the vehicle towing it before it was fully engulfed in flames.

The right lane of westbound I-74 is expected to remain closed while crews work to extinguish the fire.
