Dems closer to picking lt. governor nominee
Governor Quinn says he's like to run with someone in basic agreement with him.

By: The Associated Press
ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) _ Governor Quinn says he'll single out a favorite to become the Democratic nominee for Illinois lieutenant governor next week. He says he'll make his decision before the Democratic Central Committee makes the final selection March 27. Quinn was asked at a news conference in Rosemont Friday about reports he may favor State Senator Susan Garrett. He responded that he wouldn't pick any preferences until later.
Garrett has spoken to Quinn about applying, but she said he didn't make any promises. Quinn says he'd like to run with someone who's in basic agreement with him on broad principles. He says that includes what he described as a belief that government should be ``a progressive force.'' He also mentioned ethics and an emphasis on job creation.
