Independent candidate skeptical of Brady's no tax claim

Independent Michael White says the state should pass a sales tax increase.

Republican candidate for governor Bill Brady says he can fix the state's budget by cutting spending rather than raise taxes. Independent candidate Michael Brown says he doubts that it can be done.

Brown tells WJBC's Scott Laughlin, he would push for a temporary sales tax increase that would pay the state's overdue bills.

White says he would call on lawmakers to adopt automatic spending freezes if that spending would create a deficit.

White also supports term limits, conceal and carry and the medical use of marijuana. White is also a Gulf War veteran who opposes using the National Guard to police Chicago streets. He says troops are not trained to do police work.
