Mitchell still plans to push AZ-style immigration bill

Rep. Mitchell says he expects the AZ immigration ruling to be overturned.

The court ruling that gutted much of Arizona's tough immigration law isn't stopping State Representative Bill Mitchell from proposing a similar bill in Illinois. The Republican from Forsyth says he will introduce his immigration bill in November, unless the Supreme Court upholds the lower court ruling - and he doesn't expect that to happen. Mitchell says the ruling is a case of judicial activism.

Mitchell disputes the judge's ruling that a state can't require police to check a person's immigration status while enforcing other laws. He says it's hypocritical for the federal government to ban states from taking the immigration matter in their own hands.
