NCHS band plans large sale for Citrus Bowl parade
7/28/2010 11:53:00 PM
By: Eric Stock
Even though the start of school is still nearly a month away, the halls of Normal Community High School will be filled this weekend. The Marching Ironmen are hosting a 100-family group sale at the school to raise money for the band's scheduled performance at the Citrus Bowl Parade in Orlando on December 30th.
Meadows says it's a great learning experience that goes beyond the music.
Band director Lance Meadows says each student needs to raise $1,000 to go. About 70 of the near 100 students are planning to attend. The sale will be on Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m to 1 p.m. This will be the NCHS band's 5th trip to the Citrus Bowl Parade since 1994. They have been performing in bowl parades every other year.
