LINCOLN, Ill. (AP) -- State officials say a former Illinois priest convicted of sexual abuse has been released after serving 16 months for a parole violation. The Illinois Department of Corrections says Mark Campobello was released Wednesday from the Logan Correctional Center in Lincoln and placed on a train to Chicago. Authorities say he must list his new address on the Illinois Sex Offender registry within three days.

Campobello pleaded guilty in 2004 to sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Geneva and to molesting a 15-year-old girl in Aurora. He served a four-year prison sentence for the assaults. Months after his release in 2008, he was returned to prison for a parole violation.

The 45-year-old Campobello has been removed from the priesthood. His victims sued the Rockford Diocese, which settled the case for $2.2 million.
