Many legal experts predicted the Rod Blagojevich trial would last for many months and could affect the outcome of the November elections. Now, Illinois Republican leaders say a shorter time frame is a mixed blessing for candidates. State Republican Chairman Pat Brady admits he thought a longer Blagojevich trial, with lots of unsavory witnesses and a verdict in the middle of October, would have been gold for Republican candidates.

However, Brady says with a verdict coming any day now, it'll be good for the entire state to move past the Blagojevich era.

Governor Quinn says he doesn't think the trial will have much influence over voters in the fall because there was little evidence that Blagojevich's alleged misdeeds were widespread among Democrats in Illinois.

The jury begins its second day of deliberations today in Chicago. A pre-algebra teacher and a former Marine are among the six men and six women who make up the jury considering the case against Blagojevich and his brother Robert.
