BLOOMINGTON -The Fifty American Flags Living Memorial is scheduled to fly one last time this week as the flags' caretakers look to pass the tradition on to another group.
Country Financial and Illinois Farm Bureau members will salute the flags in a Wednesday morning ceremony on the Farm Bureau's grounds in Bloomington. That's the location where the flags first flew in May of 2002.

Air Force Reserve 1st Lt. Ryan P. Ruddy has deployed to Afghanistan to serve in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Enduring Freedom is the official name given to anti-terrorism military operations involving U.S. troops and allied coalition partners. Reserve component members from all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces have been mobilized, activated and deployed along with active duty members to support the war against global terrorism. Mission objectives encompass combating the international terrorist network or regime forces outside the borders of the United States. U.S. troops serve in South and Southwest Asia, Central Asia, the Arabian peninsula, islands in the Pacific, and other countries.

Navy Fireman Megan R. Evans, daughter of Teri and Darren Evans of El Paso, Ill., is currently deployed. Evans along with fellow Sailors and Marines deployed aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS New Orleans (LPD 18) are taking full advantage of the Volunteer Tax Assistance (VITA) program offered on board the ship.
The VITA program gives eligible military members and their spouses free help with preparing and filing their tax returns by utilizing specially trained volunteers aboard the ship.

Army Staff Sgt. Eric M. Jurich
Army Staff Sgt. Eric M. Jurich has returned to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., after being deployed to Iraq serving in support of Operation New Dawn.
Members from all branches of the U.S. military and multinational forces were also assisting in rebuilding Iraq's economic and governmental infrastructure, and training and preparing Iraqi military and security forces to assume full authority and responsibility in defending and preserving Iraq's sovereignty and independence as a democracy.
