BLOOMINGTON -- Organizers announced Friday that this week's WJBC and Radio Bloomington St. Jude Radiothon raised $78,727, beating last year's total by about $1,200.
The total was announced Friday night, capped off two days of personal stories from local families who've been helped by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

MORTON – A Morton woman says becoming a wife and mother has changed her perspective on the treatment she received from St. Jude as a girl.
Amy Jones was diagnosed in 1988 with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, or ALL, the most common form of childhood cancer. Jones went through treatment at St. Jude and was doing great for a year, but then relapsed in 1992 while a sophomore in high school. Luckily, she went into remission quickly, in just weeks.

Former Illinois State head football coach Denver Johnson says her daughter Kelsey's experience at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis was so positive, she hopes to work there one day.
Kelsey was diagnosed with leukemia at age four and was a St. Jude patient for 2 1/2 years. She is now cancer free.

BLOOMINGTON - A Bloomington family is celebrating over six years of being cancer-free.
Rachel Trimpe was 11-months old when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2005. Vicki, Rachel's mother, said Thursday they were lucky because it only took three treatment plans at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to get rid of Rachel's cancer.

BLOOMINGTON - A Bloomington family will soon be holding a party to celebrate one year since their four-year-old daughter's cancer was in remission.
Shawna Weber considers that prognosis a gift as Lucy was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic lymphoma (ALL) the day after Christmas in 2010. After spending two months at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, doctors declared Lucy's cancer to be in remission on Feb. 11, 2011.
