BLOOMINGTON — The Chicago Muscle won the opening tip Thursday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum — and that was the last good thing to happen to them as the Central Illinois Drive, presented by Sonic, blistered the nets in the first half en route to a 125-81 rout of the visitors to move to 10-0 on the season.

The Muscle fell to 4-4.

The Drive rode the hot shooting of Todd Peterson and Perry Petty to a 37-15 lead after the first quarter. The Drive opened the lead up to 40 with a minute left in the half.

Petty finished with a triple-double, scoring 19 points, snagging 18 rebounds and dishing 11 assists, while Peterson added 17 points on the strength of five three-pointers.  Chicago’s Marcel Anderson led all scorers with 24, but most of those came with the game well in hand for the Drive.

The Drive head to the Sauk Valley Predators on Saturday.  Drive coach AJ Guyton talked with WJBC’s Craig Fata following the impressive win.
