Edge sign former Illinois State lineman

BLOOMINGTON – A former Redbird has joined the Bloomington Edge.

Illinois State offensive lineman Keenan Wimbley signed with the Indoor Football League team this week. Wimbley was a key part of a Redbird line last year that helped ISU rush for 183.4 yards per game. That unit also allowed only six sacks last year.

During his junior year, he helped the Redbird offensive line protect Illinois State’s quarterbacks as they passed for 4,279 yards.

In a statement, Wimbley said playing for the Edge is an ideal situation.

“Being able to stay in the Bloomington-Normal area is huge for me since I am planning on attending graduate school at Illinois State this upcoming fall,” he said.

The Edge open the 2012 season Sunday in Chicago.
