ISU’s NAACP Chapter Hosts HIV Awareness Forum

The Illinois State University
chapter for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People
(NAACP) will host I Am My
Brother/Sister’s Keeper: Fight HIV/AIDS from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb.
7, in the Old Main Room of the Bone Student Center.
The
HIV awareness forum is primarily for regional high school students and Illinois
State students, specifically African American students aged 15-25 years of age,
but it is open to the public. There will be speakers from Student Health
Services, Health Promotions and Wellness and the McLean County AIDS Task Force.
“We
wish to educate people on the virus, discuss testing, inform the public on how
to be involved in their HIV status and discuss treatment, prevention and
resources, said Nate Gibbs, Health Committee Chair for the ISU NAACP chapter.
