BLOOMINGTON — A faith-based group that offers services that helps local seniors maintain their independence needs your help with its biggest annual fundraiser.

Faith in Action in Bloomington is hosting its fourth annual Heart of Faith Gala on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. at the Park Hotel in Bloomington. The event includes a dinner, live music and a live and silent auction.

Items for sale include a trip to the Masters, dinners, an autographed Mike Ditka jersey  and various goods and services that have been donated by local businesses. You can see a list of silent auction items here.

Gala chairwoman Michelle Schneider says the event raised $35,000 last year and the goal is to raise $40,000 this year.

Faith in Action Director Linda Bollivar says the agency gets a broad range of volunteer help from across the faith community to serve about 350 seniors in Bloomington-Normal.

“People come together not to proselytize but to serve seniors in their homes and it’s all for free,” Bollivar said.

Faith in Action offers rides to medical appointments and for shopping and other forms of practical help for seniors such as minor home repairs.
