BLOOMINGTON – Investigators are still trying to determine what sparked a fire that destroyed an unoccupied home on Six Points Road early Friday, officials said.

The fire was reported at 3:50 a.m. at 1601 Six Points Road. The single-story home was engulfed when Bloomington fire crews arrived, and firefighters spent the next two hours battling the blaze and putting out hotspots, officials said.

Assistant Fire Chief Steve Jiusti said the home was for sale and no one was living there. The home is a complete loss, with a dollar value pegged at $130,000.

Deputy Fire Chief Les Siron said several firefighters suffered minor injuries when they slipped on ice that developed in the 20-degree weather. None were treated for their injuries.

The fire’s cause is still under investigation.

Normal firefighters assisted Bloomington.
