BLOOMINGTON – A familiar face is returning to the Bloomington Edge franchise.

Team owner Jim Morris introduced former Extreme coach Kenton Carr as the Edge’s new head coach Wednesday. Carr took the Extreme to the 2008 Indoor Football League Championship game and coached the squad from 2008-10.

He says he wouldn’t change much from his first tenure with the franchise.

“Maybe the only thing I’d change is have a few more veteran players. Otherwise, I’m not going to change the staff and I’m not going to change anything we do. I think we’re moving in the right direction and I’m excited about the ownership and the support they’re giving us,” he said.

The 43-year-old Carr expects the Edge to be ready for the Feb. 19 opener against the Chicago Slaughter.

“We’re making some nice key signings here lately and there will be some more surprises that the fans will be excited about soon,” he said.

Carr graduated from Eureka College and played for the Cleveland Thunderbolts of the Arena Football League and the Peoria Pirates of the AFL 2, before spending the 2005-06 season with the Extreme.
