Illinois State University President Bowman to see increase in salary
Illinois State University’s Board of Trustee’s has authorized a 4 percent salary increase for President Al Bowman. Bowman has not requested a salary increase since 2010. He will earn $384,000, up from his prior $369,000 dollar salary.
“The salaries reflect the national market and if you compare this salary to our peer institutions, it’s still below the median, but it’s very generous for this board to make that kind of investment in me and my family,” said Bowman.
Bowman said other college and university search firms contact him about other job opportunities at least once a week. He said he considers this an honor, but doesn’t plan to go anywhere else.
“This university is a good fit for my skills and what I want to do professionally and I still have a lot of goals that I’d like to achieve.”
The board also approved a new roof for the Bone Student Center and Braden Auditorium for $2.5 million, which will come from bond revenue reserves and institutional funds. It also approved the replacement of mechanical equipment in Watterson Towers for $850,000.
