Titans take dual sweep in regular season finale

BLOOMINGTON — One victory in a night is good but two is better, as both the men’s and women’s basketball teams beat Elmhurst Saturday on Senior Night at the Shirk Center in Bloomington.

For the Titan men, a slightly cold start proved to be irrelevant as they cruised to a 79-60 win over the Elmhurst Bluejays.

The Titans were led in scoring by Jordan Zimmer with 21 points as the Illinois Wesleyan men completed the season sweep of the Bluejays.

The Bluejays were led in scoring by James Robertson with 12 as Elmhurst finishes the season at 12-13 and 6-8 in the CCIW.

The Titans are in the CCIW Tournament with a 19-6 mark and 10-4 in the conference, but their seed is unknown at this point.

In the women’s game, the Titans prevailed 82-63 against the Bluejays. Illinois Wesleyan was fueled by an 18-0 run midway through the second half to go up by 20, and the Bluejays couldn’t make up the difference.

The Titans were led in scoring by senior Olivia Lett with 18 points while Elmhurst was led in scoring by Tess Godhardt with 26.

The Illinois Wesleyan women finish their regular season at 20-5 with a 13-1 mark in the CCIW. They clinched the No. 1 before the game Saturday and will host Millikin at 7 p.m. Friday at the Shirk Center.
