NORMAL – The Normal CornBelters have named Kyle Kreger the team’s new general manager.

He transitions within the CornBelters organization after most recently serving as assistant general manager and vice president of corporate partnerships.

“Not only has Kyle been successful in our organization, but he’s been a loyal employee since the beginning,” said CornBelters President Steve Malliet. “He richly deserves this opportunity.”

Kreger joined the Normal CornBelters at the start of the organization in 2009 as the assistant general manager/vice president of ticket sales. Prior to returning to Normal, he spent seven years with the Joliet JackHammers Professional Baseball Club in Joliet, where he was most recently assistant general manager for sales. Kreger is a 2002 graduate of Illinois State University.

“Over the last three years, I think we’ve established ourselves as ‘THE’ professional sports team in Bloomington-Normal,” said Kreger, who is thrilled about the future of the organization. “With a solid ownership group, tremendous leadership from our President, an extremely talented front office staff and the best fans in Central Illinois, we’re all committed to building upon that reputation in the years to come.”

Kreger takes over GM responsibilities from Malliet, who remains the team’s president.

Kreger joined WJBC’s  Jim Fitzpatrick to discuss his new position.  You can listen to the complete interview below:
