Lexington, Eureka place in state cheer finals

BLOOMINGTON – Lexington High School and Eureka High School placed sixth and seventh in the small team division of the Illinois High School Association state competitive cheer finals. The state-wide tournament finished up at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Saturday.

Lexington received a score of 81.30, edging out Eureka’s 81.16. Columbia High School won the small team division with a score of 88.56.

Several other area schools competed in preliminary action, including U High, Bloomington, and Dwight. Lexington and Eureka were the only two area schools that advanced to Saturday’s final round.
