NCWHS’s Jefferson named Intercity POY

BLOOMINGTON – For the second year in a row, a quarterback from Normal West is the WJBC Ron Smith Printing Intercity High School Football Player of the Year.
Tyler Marcordes, now a freshman at Georgia Tech, walked away with the award last year. The man who replaced Marcordes under center this season, Alex Jefferson, was presented with this year’s award Sunday night.
Jefferson threw for 37 touchdowns and 2,686 yards and rushed for 790 yards and eight touchdowns in leading the Wildcats to the program’s first undefeated regular season.
Normal West advanced to the second round of the IHSA football playoffs.
Jefferson was one of nine players honored at the WJBC Ron Smith Printing Intercity Football banquet at the McLean County Farm Bureau Building in Bloomington on Sunday.
