John Fry died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012.

John L. Fry of Bloomington, Ill. passed away at 1:49 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012. He was 80.

His service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home in Bloomington. Rev. Cliff Close will officiate. Burial will be in Frankeberger Cemetery, Ellsworth, Ill. Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Wednesday at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society.

John was born May 22, 1931 in Bloomington, the son of Henry and Barbara Ellen Riddle Fry. He married Betty Arbuckle; she precedes him in death. He later married Hazel Lambert and she preceded him in death.

Surviving are 2 Children: James M. Fry, Bloomington and Lori Fry, Bloomington; 3 Sisters: Doris (Roy) Hicks, Bloomington, Shirley Geiselman, Normal, Marceil Ahlers, Bloomington; 6 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren.

Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and many close friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ronald and Donald Fry.

Mary Ann Rieger died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012.

Mary Ann Rieger of Fairbury, Ill. passed away at 9:13 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012 at Fairview Haven Nursing Home. She was 87.

A private family graveside service was held at Forrest Township Cemetery, Forrest. Friends may greet the family in celebration of Mary Ann’s life from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 at Fairview Haven Nursing Home Activity Room. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Fairview Haven Nursing Home. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Ann was born Feb. 14, 1924 in Sabetha, Kan., the daughter of Emil and Mary Ann Burger Aberle. She married Leonard Rieger on June 29, 1947 in Princeville. He survives.

Also surviving are her children, Rita (Steve) Metz of Forrest, Mary (Robert) Decker of Fairbury, Kathleen (Dennis) Davis of Forrest, Lorie (Phil) Hermes of Fairbury and Scott (Jeanne) Rieger of Indianapolis, Ind.; two sisters, Arleta (Harvey) Wenger and Rosalie (Bob) Lohman both of Sabetha, Kan.; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Rachael Davis, infant grandson, one brother and three sisters.

Mary Ann was of Christian faith.

She loved being a homemaker and caring for her family. She is known for her amazing homemade pies and fudge.

Mary has always had a special love for children and babies.
