Pauline C. Meyer of Normal went to be with her Lord at 11:55 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 9, 2012) at Heritage Health, Normal, at the age of 94.

Her service will be Thursday, February 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Cross Pointe Church of God, Bloomington, with the Rev. David Lloyd officiating. Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 15th from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. The family suggests memorials be made to Cross Pointe Church of God.

Pauline Cora Crutcher was born Feb. 7, 1918 in Bloomington, the daughter of David Milton Crutcher and Hattie Beatrice Cowan. She married Adrian Vincent Meyer on April 21, 1938 in Bloomington. He died August 26, 1991.

Surviving are three children, Sharon (Don) Mitten, Colorado Springs, CO; Kerry (Cheri) Meyer, Bloomington; Gregory (Marsha) Meyer, Normal; daughter-in-law Caryol Meyer, Noblesville, IN; grandchildren Jeffrey (Cheryl) Mitten, Eric Todd Mitten, Mark (Mary) Mitten, Seth (Kathy) Mitten, Shane (Stephanie) Meyer, Robin (Tom) Chiavetta, Matthew (Melanie) Meyer, Joshua (Erin) Meyer, Christopher Meyer, Brandon Meyer; 10 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Walt Bittner; and sister-in-law Dolores Crutcher.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; son, Rev. Richard E. Meyer; brothers Henry, Joseph, Lewis, Ivan, Ralph and David Jr.; sisters Violette and Eva and her twin sister, Irene; and two great grandchildren.

Before marrying she ran the elevator at the First National Bank Building in Bloomington. Determined to finish school, she returned to Bloomington High School where she graduated in 1938.

Pauline’s joy from a very early age was singing. She and her twin sister, Irene, were known as “Uncle Dave’s Twins” as they sang at barn dances and other events. Pauline took part in trios, choir, or leading music at church for most of her life. Even through the advanced stages of Alzheimer’s she maintained her beautiful voice and recollection of hymns.

Pauline passed along a wonderful heritage of faith in the Lord Jesus to her children. Because of her love and passion for serving Him, she took an active role in several aspects of church such as the Women’s Missionary Society, Sunday School, the Visitation ministry for shut-ins, and the music program. She had the gift of hospitality, making everyone feel welcome in her home.

Hobbies included creating clothes for dolls to be donated (Dress-a-Doll program), genealogy, gardening, sewing, reading, and crocheting.

Robert L. Van Note Sr., 79, of Bloomington, passed away at 5:08 a.m. on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at his residence.

Visitation will be from 5- 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington. There will be no service. Cremations rites will be accorded after the visitation. Memorials may be made to the family.

Robert was born on September 10, 1932 in Saybrook, Ill., to Irvin L. and Ruth Ellen (Brown) Van Note. He married Betty Joyce Jones on April 24, 1952 in Bloomington. She preceded him in death.

Surviving are his children, Vicki Lynn Nicholas, Patricia Ann Carey, Barbara Bruce, Robert Van Note Jr., Debra Van Note, David Van Note, Steve Van Note and Curtiss Van Note all of Bloomington; one brother, Rodger Van Note of Bloomington; 22 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Lisa; two brothers, Gene and David; one sister, Janis Montgomery and one granddaughter.

Robert was employed for 33 years at the General Box Company-Stone Container-Southwest in Bloomington.

He was an avid Cubs and Chicago Bears fan and loved fishing and spending time with friends and family.

Forrest J. Frank, 74, of Bloomington passed away at 9 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Martin Health Center in Bloomington.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Calvary United Methodist Church in Normal. The Rev. Dr. Randall Perry will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm on Friday, February 17, 2012 and one hour prior to the service on Saturday, all at Calvary United Methodist Church. According to the family’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is handling arrangements for the family.

Memorial contributions in Forrest’s name may be made to the Calvary United Methodist Church Building Fund or Illinois Wesleyan University.

He was born on September 2, 1937, in Chicago, IL, a son of Dr. Melvin and Linnea Peterson Frank. He married Dorothy “Dottie” Swenson on August 29, 1959 in Chicago, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Sharon (Robert) Frank Wichman of St. Cloud, MN; one sister, Karen Goldman of Gresham, OR; and three grandsons, Nathaniel Forrest, Brenden Merrick, and Lionel Thorsten Wichman, all of St. Cloud, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Forrest attended high school in Kokomo, Indiana, graduated from Grinnell College with a B.A. in Chemistry, and received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Purdue in 1964.

After a short stint doing research in the paper industry in New Jersey, Forrest accepted a job teaching chemistry at Illinois Wesleyan University, a post he held for 34 years. His students included many future doctors, nurses, and other professionals who survived his dreaded Organic Chemistry course, and he greatly enjoyed meeting them about town.

Two of his four sabbatical semesters were spent in England. His six months doing research at Scotland Yard provided new insights for the Forensic Science course he had developed at IWU. He enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and abroad with Dottie, and spent many summers at the family cabin near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in northern Minnesota.

He was an active member of Calvary United Methodist Church, serving in many positions over the years, among them Chair of Administrative Board, Chair of the Nursery School Board, and Stephen Ministry Leader. He taught Rules of the Road for the State of Illinois and Defensive Driving for AARP for many years.

He relished his role as a father and eventually grandfather. His cheerful spirit and boundless enthusiasm will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
