Illinois State falls to Missouri in tournament

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Illinois State offense could get nothing going against No. 9 Missouri and its starting pitcher Chelsea Thomas, as the Redbirds were held to just three hits in a 6-0 loss to the Tigers in their opening game of the NCAA Regional Friday evening in Columbia, Mo.

ISU (35-22) saw its best scoring opportunity come in the top of the first, when junior Jhavon Hamilton led off the game with a walk, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. However, Thomas recorded back-to-back strikeouts to strand Hamilton 60 feet away.

In an address to America from Afghanistan, Obama says the tide of the war and U.S. forces have "devastated'' al-Qaida's leadership. He singled out the U.S. troops that launched the operation one year ago that killed Osama bin Laden.

WJBC’s Music Friday: Jack White Playlist

Since Jim is off  watching the Black Keys perform is St. Louis, it's just Kim Wells and me on this Friday afternoon.   The timing is perfect - now I can celebrate the release of Jack White's first solo album (Blunderbuss was released Tuesday) with a special edition of WJBC's Music Friday without his snarky remarks about me having a man-crush on Mr. White.

Follow along with us this afternoon as we feature music produced, written and/or performed by Jack White.   Capping the playlist at 15 is a little like limiting yourself to 15 Beatles songs, but there's only room for so much bumper music in a four-hour talk show.  Here's the playlist:
