Spotting symptoms for Stroke Awareness Month
WJBC Medical Expert Dr. John Wieland says strokes are occurring more in younger people because of lifestyle -- salty foods, smoking, lack of exercise and increasing diabetes -- contributing to a lack of blood flow.
Wieland advises to look for symptoms by thinking of the acronym FAST, for Face, Arms, Speech and Time.

WJBC Tech Expert Dean Plumadore says a new report suggests Apple is working on a smaller version of the iPad which would sell for $200 and offer 8GB storage.
Plumadore also says Microsoft is investing $300 million in Barnes and Noble's Nook that would allow the device to use it's Microsoft 8 software once it's available.
This week's app of the week is called "Coffee Table" and provides paper catalogues "online."
Local fourth graders offer Mother’s Day wishes
You've heard the expression, "kids say the darnedest things" and that's certainly the case with the children of Mr. Scott Vogel's fourth grade class at Sugar Creek elementary.
Here are Mother's Day greetings recorded from 20 students who love their mothers for such things such as giving them candy, letting them stay up late, and watching them play soccer.

Going to the Illinois State Fair will cost a little more this year.
Fair Director Amy Bliefnick says admission for adults will go from $5 to $7 and children and seniors ticket prices will go from $2 to $3. Bliefnick stressed that with the increase in ticket prices, fair admission is still below the national average of other state fairs.
