Illinois State women’s basketball non-conference schedule released

The Illinois State women’s basketball team’s 2011-12 non-conference schedule has been finalized, as announced today by head coach Stephanie Glance. The Redbirds will play 11 non-conference games and one exhibition game.

Illinois State announces Athlete of the Year nominees

The 11 nominees for the annual Jill Hutchison Female Athlete of the Year and the Milt Weisbecker Male Athlete of the Year awards have been announced. Five male and six female student-athletes are in the running for the awards that honor the best athletic performances of the 2010-11 academic year and will be presented at the annual Walk of Champions Sunday, Aug. 21.

Bradley’s notes on ISU Basketball team’s final day in Montreal

On their final day in Montreal, the ISU men's basketball team went to the Biodome which is located at the former Olympic Village.  To get there the team took the Metro, which is the city's underground subway system.

Redbirds leave Canada even at 2-2

Once again, Illinois State’s Jackie Carmichael and Tyler Brown paced the team offensively as the duo combined to score 41 points in the Redbirds’ 90-66 win over McGill Friday night at the Love Competition Hall.

Bob Bradley on Canadian Political Issues

Illinois State Political Science Professor Bob Bradley is traveling in Canada with the Illinois State Men's Basketball team and is blogging about the both his and the team's impressions.

A number of issues are at the forefront of political discussions in Canada now. Perhaps the issue getting the most attention is the overseas travel of the Prime Minister.   He just concluded a visit to Brazil in an effort to bolster trade with that nation, and is continuing a swing through Latin American countries in an effort to make various trade agreements.

Illinois State picked 5th in Missouri Valley volleyball poll

The Illinois State volleyball team was picked fifth in the 2011 Missouri Valley Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll, as announced by the league office Thursday.

Illinois State returns 10 letterwinners after finishing with a 19-14 overall record in the 2010 season.

The Redbirds open the 2011 season Aug. 26 and 27 against Utah Valley, Northern Arizona and Cal State Bakersfield at the Wolverine Invitational in Orem, Utah.

Illinois State men drop 2nd straight in Canada trip

Illinois State appeared to be on its way back from a 17-point deficit, but the Redbirds could never retake the lead down the stretch and dropped a 90-80 decision to Carleton College at the Ravens’ Nest Wednesday night.

After the Redbirds jumped out to a 5-0 lead, thanks to a jump shot by Johnny Hill followed by a three-point make from John Wilkins, Carleton, the 2011 Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) champions, rattled off 10-straight points for a 10-5 lead.

Redbird basketball falls to Montreal All-Stars

Illinois State led 36-32 at the half, thanks to 10 first-half points by sophomore Jon Ekey, but the Montreal All-Stars, a compilation of mostly local professional players, got hot in the second half and claimed a 76-68 win over the Redbirds Tuesday night at Collège Brébeuf in the opening game of the four-game tour.

Bradley: Redbirds get first impressions of Montreal

Upon arriving in Montreal with the Redbird basketball team a number of first impressions struck me about the city.

-This part of Canada is very flat. For those of you who like the flatness of central Illinois you would be deliriously happy here

Illinois State football to be featured on ESPN3 Oct. 22

ESPN3.com will be coming to Illinois State's Hancock Stadium this season as the Missouri Valley Football Conference has announced an agreement to air as many as five telecasts on the broadband sports network during the 2011 season.

ESPN3.com will carry at least three college football games from the Missouri Valley Football Conference beginning this season, including Illinois State's October 22nd game against Indiana State.
