Technology keeps changing in corn and soybean seeds
Syngenta Seeds Agronomy Marketing Manager Bruce Battles was a panelist at a farm profitability meeting earlier this month in Champaign. Battles talked about the technology coming in both corn and soybeans, noting that for soybeans things are a little bit deeper in the pipeline. He said the company is working on insect management traits, herbicide traits, herbicide tolerance, and an aphid management system, which is a more integrated approach to aphid managing aphids in soybeans. Battles said things are changing much more quickly in corn. He said 10 years ago seed companies were wondering what the adoption rate might be for a single corn borer or rootworm trait, having no idea today it would be nearly 100%. Now Syngenta is working to stack multiple modes of action using broader spectrum traits. Battles said Agrisure Viptera 3111 is designed to be the cornerstone of Syngenta’s stacking strategies for the future. To hear more with Bruce Battles, click here:
