Mildred Tallon

Mildred “Jean” Tallon, 86, of Downs, died at 6:00 p.m. on Dec. 15 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, where visitation will be two hours prior to services.  Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove in Downs.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Downs Fire Department, the LeRoy Fire Department or the American Cancer Society.

She was born July 10, 1928 in Bloomington, daughter of Thadeus and Mary Hupman Weekley.  She married Charles W. “Chic” Tallon on Oct. 24, 1948, he survives. 

Also surviving are one daughter, Linda Sage of Bloomington; three grandchildren, Brad (Jennifer) Tallon of Mill Spring, N.C., Tom (Carrie) Estes and Blake (Danielle) Estes, both of Downs; five great-grandchildren, Jacob, Morgan & Owen Estes and Stella & Raney Tallon; one brother, William (Mary) Weekley and six sisters, Virginia (Delbert) Rengel, Lillian (Fred) Thoman, Shirley (Melvin) Niepagen, Peggy (the late Wendell) Niepagen, Bonnie (the late Don) Slaughter and Lynn (Gary) Stewart.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Debra Tallon and Brenda Estes and three sisters.

Jean enjoyed gardening, fishing at Fox Lake and had a love for birds, especially cardinals, but her greatest love came with taking care of and spending time with her family, friends and her daily coffee drinkers.
