Illinois Wesleyan ranks No. 59 in Learfield Cup standings

BLOOMINGTON – Illinois Wesleyan University is tied for No. 59 of 189 schools in the Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings, as announced by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics. 

The Titans had 83 points, all coming from the semifinal finish by the women's soccer team.
 
Massachusetts Institute of Technology holds the lead with 313.50 points, followed by Williams College with 307 points. Christopher Newport is in third place with 298 points, followed by Johns Hopkins with 284 and Tufts University with 260.50 points.
 
Also from the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, Wheaton is No. 12 (223 points) and North Central is No. 29 (154 points). Carthage is tied for No. 79 (64 points), Elmhurst is tied for No. 94 (50 points), with Millikin and North Park tied for 135th (25 points).
 
Seven fall NCAA Division III championships were completed with the following institutions capturing titles: football – Wisconsin-Whitewater; women's cross country – Johns Hopkins (Md.); men's cross country – North Central; field hockey – The College of New Jersey; volleyball – Hope; men's soccer – Tufts; women's soccer – Lynchburg.
 
The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and USA Today.  Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports — nine women's and nine men's.

The first set of unofficial winter standings will be released mid-March with official standings published upon the completion of the winter season.
