Late rally for IWU falls short in loss to Elmhurst

ELMHURST – Illinois Wesleyan's rallied from 15 points down in the final seven minutes of the game, but missed on a final shot to tie the game as Elmhurst prevailed, 76-73, at R.A. Faganel Hall.

The Bluejays dominated the glass in the second half, outrebounding the Titans 10-1 during the first four minutes of the half as Elmhurst broke a 38-38 tie with a 9-0 run. 

"It was a struggle," IWU coach Ron Rose said. "Nothing came easy today."

Jordan Nelson led IWU with 17 points. Dylan Overstreet finished with 14 points, eight assists and five rebounds. 

Elmhurst was led by Kyle Wuest with 18 points and 10 rebounds. 

IWU falls to 5-2 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconson, 13-5 overall. Elmhurst improves to 15-3, 5-2 in the CCIW. 

The Titans host Wheaton on Wednesday.

IWU women 

The Titan women fell to Elmhurst 86-61. IWU trailed 41-35 at halftime, before the Bluejays pulled away for the win. 

Molly McGraw led IWU (8-10, 2-5 in CCIW) with 18 points.
