Ruth Gilbert
Ruth N. Gilbert, 88, of Bloomington, passed away at 2:16 a.m. on Feb. 4 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal surrounded by her family.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington with Rev. J. Todd Keller officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service on Saturday at the memorial home.
Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an organization of the donor’s choice.
Ruth was born on May 28, 1926 in Kappa, a daughter of Pearl and Mary Hall Campbell. She married James L. Gilbert on Aug. 25, 1946 in Bloomington. He preceded her in death on May 24, 2005.
Surviving are two daughters, Lynn (Tony) Perschall of Bloomington, Carol (Vic) Fink of Bloomington; a son, Gary (Amy) Gilbert of Plymouth, Minn.; grandchildren, Scott, Amy, Chris, Adam, Samantha and Cory; four great grandchildren; one sister, Louise Campbell of Normal and a sister- in-law, Ida Mae Tjaden of Roanoke.
In addition to her husband, James, she was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers and two sisters.
She was a former member of the Bloomington Elks Lodge. Ruth was an avid bowler and she loved to read.
Ruth loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all of her family and friends.
