BLOOMINGTON – McLean County Coroner Kathleen Davis is making sure some unused prescription drugs don't go to waste.
Davis said she collected enough unused medications from a recent death investigation to fill a van.
"The decedent's family can't reuse them, because they are not prescribed to another family member," David said.
Davis offered the drugs, which ended up being worth about $27,400, to the Community Healthcare Clinic in Normal.
"I was actually shocked at the amount of retail value these medications were," David said.
The clinic which will make them available to its low-income clients for treatment of diabetes, and blood pressure and heart conditions.
"As a nurse practitioner, I felt there was a need to see if we could help people in the community," Davis said.
She added the medications which were opened or had already expired were properly disposed.
