LEXINGTON – City officials in Lexington say repairs have been made to its water treatment plant that temporarily lead to high levels of nitrite.
Water that's high in nitrite should not been given to infants to drink or for baby formula. Boiling and freezing the water won't help. Boiling could make the nitrites more concentrated.
Lexington Water Superintendent Billy DuBois said new testing has been done and he expects the water will be back in compliance by Tuesday.
