BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington Mayor Tari Renner's recent comments on a Tea Party blog were addressed at a candidates forum held this morning.

We could hear official reaction from the city council in the next week.

Renner apologized to the blogger after using words such as sick, dirty, slimy and ignorant.  Renner felt his son had been attacked, he says he regrets his comments. Bloomington Alderwoman Joni  Painter said the city council is actively working to rectify the situation.

"There really was no excuse for it," says Painter. "I hope that it doesn't happen again. Within the next week things shall shake out."

Two of the candidates for city council called for Renner to resign.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
