BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington City Council has scheduled a special meeting on Friday to consider a censure of mayor Tari Renner who lashed out against a blogger in an online tirade last week.
Renner accused blogger Diane Benjamin of verbally attacking his son and used words such as 'sick, dirty, slimy and ignorant' when referring to the blogger.
The mayor initially apologized to the city council and staff, but did not call Benjamin until two days after the matter had caused a firestorm.
The meeting has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the City Council chambers at 109 E. Olive St.
According to the agenda, Renner is expected to address the council after the council takes any action.
