NORMAL – There are social media apps being used on cell phones that have Illinois State University Police Chief Aaron Woodruff concerned.

“Snapchat and Yik Yak in particular are two areas where we are starting to see our students heavily involved and we are starting to see some safety concerns with these two apps,” said Woodruff.

Woodruff said the apps are being used for online bullying.  He said complaints can be made and search warrants can allow police to retrieve information from the apps. However, Woodruff said for some students with emotional problems the bullying can become overwhelming.

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
