Mary Jean Thompson
Colfax: Mary Jean Thompson, 85, of Colfax, died at 5:33 am, Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Advocate Bromenn Medical Center, Normal.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Monday, February 23, 2015 at Colfax United Methodist Church with Pastor Gifty Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax.
Visitation is from 3 to 5pm, Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed Colfax United Methodist Church or EMCAA.
Mary was born July 14, 1929 in Peoria; a daughter to Eugene and Margaret (Price) Lucas. She married Warren Thompson on March 4, 1951. He passed away May 23, 1995.
Her parents, one brother and one sister also preceded her in death.
Survivors include three daughters, Deborah (Eugene) Dowling of Gilbert, AZ; Linda Reum of Colfax; Karen Thompson of Bloomington; two grandsons, Dirk (Valerie) Reum of Iowa; Travis (Bethany) Reum of Saybrook,; and six great grandchildren.
Mary was a member of the Colfax United Methodist Church and attended the First United Methodist Church of Normal. She was very committed to her church, serving in the choir, UMW, and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of the McLean County Home Extension.
Mary loved reading, dancing and music, especially “Big Band Music”. She spent many nights dancing at O’Neil’s in Bloomington. Mary was a big partner in the family farm with her husband Warren, helping wherever she could.
