Work to resume on Veterans Parkway bridge in Bloomington

PARIS – The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that work is scheduled to resume Monday for reconstruction of the bridges carrying Veterans Parkway over Interstate 74 on the southwest side of Bloomington.  

This project will include complete removal and replacement of the existing bridges and pavement replacement on Veterans Parkway and Interstate 74. 

Construction will take place in stages utilizing barrier walls and lanes will be restricted to 11 feet, two inches in both directions.  

During construction, the following ramps will be closed:  
• Southbound Business 55 to eastbound I-74  
• Westbound I-74 to northbound Business 55  
• Westbound I-74 to southbound I-55  
• Eastbound I-74 to northbound Business 55  

The contractor for this $11.5 million project is O'Neil Brothers Construction. The estimated completion date is Aug. 1.
