BLOOMINGTON – More than $141,000 was raised during the Special Olympics of the Heartland Polar Plunge last weekend. Spokeswoman Jill Bertelson says many will be taking part in next month's basketball tournament.  The tournament is held at Horton Fieldhouse and the Shirk Center.  Volunteers are still needed.

"Obviously, basketball officials for basketball," says Bertelson. "We play Boccie in the summer and aquatics in the summer.  All kinds of officials are needed for their time and talent.   It's quite easy to sign up and volunteer."

Those with special needs are helped in a seven county area by Special Olympics of the Heartland. You can find out more at SOILL.org.
