BLOOMINGTON – A man accused of stealing a guitar from a church has pleaded guilty to theft charges.

Clifton Dunlap, 22, agreed to serve 24 months of probation in exchange for pleading guilty to one count of felony theft.

Normal Police say Dunlap stole a guitar from Heartland Community Church that belonged to a 17-year-old who performed at a Praise Night event in March 2014. Dunlap then sold it to a pawn shop for $550.

Dunlap will also have to serve 30 hours of community service and pay restitution plus court fines totaling $757. If he doesn't complete those terms, he's required to serve a 180 day prison sentence.
