CHAMPAIGN – The University of Illinois is asking a federal judge to throw out the lawsuit of a professor who says he was unfairly stripped of a job offer because of some controversial online messages.
The school withdrew its offer of a professorship for Steven Salaita after they learned of a number of his profane Twitter messages that targeted the state of Israel.
The school says Salaita had no binding contract with the university and so his claim of discrimination because of his political views has no basis.
