Betty Brent
Betty L. Brent, 91, of Bloomington, died at 10:20 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2015 at the McLean County Nursing Home, Normal.
Her funeral will be at 4:00 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2015 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, with Pastor Paul Stroup officiating. A private family entombment will be in the mausoleum of Park Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Betty was born February 4, 1924 in Covell, the daughter of Chester and Lucille Kreuger Melton. She married Lyle K. Brent on July 24, 1943 at Stanford and he preceded her in death on March 7, 2003.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ellen (Michael) O’Rourke of Bloomington; a son, Rodney (Renate) Brent of Bloomington; six grandchildren, Greg (Patty) Gilmore, Jeff (Danielle) Gilmore, Don (Lori) Gilmore, Mark (Patti) Brent, Laura (Johnny) Wright and Elizabeth Brent; 3 step-grandchildren, Michael (Laura) O’Rourke, Beth (Dan Lindoerfer) O’Rourke and Lisa Howard; 15 great grandchildren, Jacob, Jack, Ella, Maddie and Mia Gilmore; Matthew and Lauren Gilmore, Parker and Harry Gilmore, Julia, Joanna, Faith and Elle Wright and Will and Robbie Brent; 2 step great grandchildren Collin and Connor O’Rourke; and a sister-in-law, Lila Butler of San Antonio, TX.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Robert Melton.
Betty graduated from Stanford High School and attended Brown Business College. She had a strong faith and was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Bloomington. She was a lifetime member of the local chapter of PEO. Betty enjoyed golf and playing bridge with friends. She was known for her cooking, her baking and her wonderful smile. Betty’s family was her life and she will be dearly missed.
The family would like to thank all the staff at McLean County Nursing Home for their compassion and wonderful care of Betty during her time there.
Samuel Kelch
Samuel R. Kelch, 72, of Bloomington, passed away at 10:53 a.m., Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.
His memorial visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Interment will be private.
Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Sam was born November 7, 1942 in Morris, the son of Charles and Leona Leslie Kelch. He married Margo Burns on December 9, 1961 in Bloomington. She survives.
He is also survived by two sons, Sam Kelch, Jr of Normal and Curtis (Ann) Kelch of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Jessika, Kaitlin and Jared Kelch and Ashley and Brittany Kelch; three sisters, Judy Felth of Normal, Karla (Gary) Kloft of Florida and Debbie (Jim) Smith of Pekin; many nieces and nephews; and his dog and best friend, Missy.
He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Linda Kelch.
Sam was a 1960 graduate of Bloomington High School. He was a baker and retired from Purity Sunbeam in Bloomington after many years. He was past president of the Bakers and Confectionary Union. He was also past president of Tri-Lakes Sportsman’s Club in Bloomington. Sam was an avid woodworker. He loved his family and was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
