CHICAGO- At least one member of the 2014-15 Illinois State Redbirds football team looks to be playing on Sundays next year.

James O’Shaughnessy, a three year starter at Tight End for the Redbirds was picked up in the fifth round of the NFL draft by the Kansas City Chiefs.

O’Shaughnessy, a native of Naperville, Illinois tied for the team lead in TD’s last year with nine, including two in the Redbirds National Championship appearance vs North Dakota State. O’Shaughnessy is the highest player drafted from Illinois State since Laurent Robinson was taken by the Falcons in the third round of the 2007 draft.
